cutting the cake

To all of my 2009, 2010 & 2011 Brides and Grooms!

So far, this has been one of the most amazing wedding seasons ever. Week after week I tell my friends, family and other Wedding Vendors that the weddings have been incredible. So I guess Im going to have to say that my goal of achieving trust through my Perfect Wedding Process is working.  I can hardly wait for the weekends to get here anymore. I love it! And its all because you trust me.

Trust!

It is the key element for me to make your wedding reception amazing. Its not easy to do but it is possible.

In my last News Letter I spoke in detail about trust, but here I am again. Why? Because without trust, you miss the moments.

First we have to get over all of those horror stories that you have heard from friends or family that had a bad experience with their DJ at their wedding or at another function. You may have seen it first hand. Many of you have. I know this by you sharing these stories with me at one of our Perfect Wedding Process meetings at my Home Office. True and often bizarre stories like my new favorite. The Monkey Mask. Yes, a DJ in a Monkey Mask at a Wedding that no one was dancing at. So, lets break out the Monkey Mask? That is classic. I wish I saw it. I guess the guest were in a state of jaw dropping confusion like,

Its a bird!
Its a plane!
It the DJ in a Monkey Mask? ! ? ! ? ! ?

Unfortunately stories like the Monkey Mask,

  • The DJ who didnt have a back up amp,
  • The DJ who didnt show up,
  • The DJ who was drunk and smoking all night outside,
  • The DJ who didnt have requested songs,
  • The Corny DJ and
  • The DJ you didnt hire (The Company Replacement DJ), these are the stories that happen when corners are cut (price) or when we wait to long to seek out the vendors that everyone told us to get.

When should I book my DJ?

This may sound like a cheap cheesy sales pitch but it is the truth. The Magazines have no idea when it comes to a Vendor Hire time-line. In each local area it is different, but you would have to be a wedding professional in that area to know it. But for the most part its treat every area the same. Not good. Every part of the country is different. Here in Western Mass, I frequently have to let a bride know after she inquires about my services for her date, that unfortunately I am already booked. And that is often for a date 15 months away. I have seen Wedding Magazines suggest that you look for your entertainment 6 months from your wedding day.

At that point you are going to have to be extremely lucky, or that part of your wedding reception isnt important to you. The only problem with that is That Part of the reception turned out to be the one element of the wedding, most responsible for the success of their whole wedding day. Everyone danced all night, had fun and then the Pictures & Video come out incredible.  Who wants to watch the Video of a boring wedding that everyone left early from?

Some Wedding Guides might say 9-12 months but hardly ever anything more than a year. I would say that you should be pretty safe out here in Western Mass about 15-18 months.

We are the experts
